This Bhangarh Fort located in Alwar at the borders of the Sariska Tiger Reserve was built by King Madho Singh. This fort is known to be haunted and no visitor is allowed to enter the premises before sunrise and after sunset. This fort was built on the condition that the shadows of the fort should not touch the ascetic Guru Balu Nath’s area of meditation. But the king did not keep his promise. So the ascetic cursed the entire village to remain roofless forever.

Another folklore associated with this fort is that of Tantrik Singhia and princess Ratnavati. The Tantrik fell in love with the princess and is said to have tried to use magic to make the princess fall in love with him too. When the princess learnt of Tantrik’s plan, she ordered his execution. The Tantrik then wished death upon the dwellers of the fort and cursed that villagers remain roofless forever.
