During the fall, it’s fair to say you’ll be buying at least one (or three, four, five…) can of pumpkin puree. Don’t be left with a sad leftover can after you make all those pumpkin pies and pumpkin bread. Even if you’ve had your fill of pies, you can use pumpkin puree to make pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin cream cheese muffins, and even super creamy pumpkin bacon mac & cheese. You just might wish you had a few more cans of pumpkin!
We love canned pumpkin, don’t get us wrong. It’s easy, versatile, and doesn’t involve carving a whole pumpkin. But when you really want to nail that signature pumpkin flavor, you can’t get any closer than making your own pumpkin puree. Sugar pumpkins are our go-to for making pumpkin puree, but you can also use sweet kabocha squash in a pinch.
Start your day off with a pumpkin spice latte and then end it with a pumpkin pie martini, because why shouldn’t you?! Your favorite seasonal latte is so easy to re-create at home, thanks to our pumpkin spice syrup. If you really want to go over the top with pumpkin flavor, pair it with pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin waffles.
Fall is magical not only because of Halloween, but because it’s a truly magical time for all things squash. If you’ve made your way through all of our pumpkin recipes, you’ll have to try all of our butternut squash recipes and winter & fall squash recipes. If you need to find us, you can catch us roasting up delicata squash and acorn squash all season long.

Pumpkin Purée
Pumpkin pie is a fall staple. Sure, the stuff from the can is good, but if you truly want to make the pie from scratch, you gotta start with a whole pumpkin! Sugar pumpkins are the classic, but sweet kabocha squash is a good substitute and will roast more quickly.
