Australian Capital Territory utility ActewAGL says it has secured 40 electric vehicles for sale to customers through its EVhub, including models from Polestar, Tesla, and MG.

At a time when EV delivery times are stretching out for months due to global shortages, a lucky few Canberrans will be able to drive away an EV as early as next month.

The news comes less then a month after ActewAGL’s EVhub – stylised as “evHub” – delivered its first EV, a Hyundai Ioniq 5, to Canberra couple Mike and Anne, of Griffith.

“We were thrilled to be the first to receive a car through the evHub. ActewAGL made it easy to find an EV in Canberra, and we were kept informed every step of the way.”

Included amongst the new range of EVs are fourteen Polestar 2s. Other models include the Tesla Model 3, MG ZS EV, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Kona, and Kia Niro. Deliveries will be available between now and mid-December.

“With significant demand for electric vehicles in the ACT, the biggest barrier to adoption has been supply,” said Todd Eagles, group manager of energy transition products at ActewAGL.

“Securing access to over 40 vehicles in this market is a win for our customers and sustainability in the region. We are excited to help our customers drive away in an EV sooner.”

ActewAGL’s EVhub is designed to help local Canberrans find, finance, and charge an EV. In addition to providing a wealth of information to educate potential EV buyers in the ACT, the EVhub aims to reduce the cost of ownership by leveraging ActewAGL’s organisational buying power, and reduce the wait time for an EV.

The EVhub also provides a ‘Smart Charger Plan’ which manages the installation of the ChargeMate – JET Charge smart charger, all ongoing support, and a lifetime warranty. A monthly fee of $44.95 also includes 12 month’s free public charging on the Evie network.

EVhub’s goal is a commitment to help one in 4 ACT households drive an EV by 2030. To support this goal, ActewAGL has secured financing options through a partnership with leading Australian fintech lender Plenti.
