Alaska Airlines is breaking ground with a new program allowing passengers to enroll in a subscription-based travel offering for West Coast destinations.

Flight Pass will pay a set monthly fee that allows them to fly up to 24 roundtrip flights per year to destinations in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Plans start as low as $49 per month for the service, that allows participants to lock in main cabin deals for a full year.

“Flight Pass builds on our mission to offer travelers the most West Coast destinations at the best value,” Alex Corey, managing director of business development and products for Alaska Airlines, said in a statement. “Our commitment to care means offering convenient and affordable options that fit our guests’ lifestyle and connect them to where they want to go.”

The program applies to any flight to or from 16 cities in California, Nevada, and Arizona that Alaska serves.

“After 2 years of staying close to home, guests are ready to travel again, and with 100 daily flights from 16 airports throughout California and between California to Reno, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, Flight Pass will take them there,” Corey said.

How Flight Pass Works

Subscribers can choose between two annual plans. The regular plan starts at $49 per month and requires booking at least 14 days before travel. Flight Pass Plus starts at $199 per month and allows for booking up to 2 hours before departure.

Subscribers decide if they want six, 12, or 24 roundtrip flights per year to and from the 19 eligible destinations. Enrollees don’t have to pay for any flight they book no matter the fare at the time, although taxes and airport fees will have to be paid.

Subscribers will get credits deposited into their accounts on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.

Subscribers will continue to be eligible to earn miles as part of the Alaska frequent flyer program.

Flight Pass could prove popular for customers who make frequent trips to Las Vegas or Disneyland, or for those wanting to go on golf getaways to Arizona or Palm Springs.

“Alaska Airlines is uniquely positioned to help our West Coast guests experience more with direct access to destinations near and far from our expanding hubs,” said Neil Thwaites, regional vice president of California for Alaska Airlines. “Flight Pass will provide more options, value, and care with every trip that our guests book, while also transforming the travel experience long-term.”

  • Arizona: Phoenix
  • Nevada: Las Vegas; Reno
  • California: Burbank; Fresno; Los Angeles; Monterey; Orange County; Palm Springs; Sacramento; San Diego; San Francisco; San Jose; San Luis Obispo; Santa Barbara; and Sonoma.
