An Adventurous 2-Day Weekend Retreat To Jim Corbett

Be it a lush embrace of greenery or a turquoise world under water, the most luxurious of a ride or the humblest of walks — the world of travel is certainly very beautiful. And a thing as beautiful as the same, is witnessing a human fall in love with it for the first time. A similar thing happened to Rajveer as he discovered an enchanting world that traveling opens when he visited Jim Corbett with his two friends. His was just a 2-day weekend retreat booked through TravelTriangle, which included the accommodation, meals and wildlife safari for three people, at a price of INR 9,300. Having returned from his trip, here is what he has to say.

I am not much of a traveler. It comes as a surprise to many that since childhood, I have only been to Vaishno Devi and Jaipur. On a random day in the office, some of my colleagues were discussing their recent visit to Jim Corbett. Their account was such that I and two more of my friends got lured to experience the same. Our google search lead us to TravelTriangle and that’s it – the background was set. The most interesting fact was that as a grown up, this was about to be my first-ever trip with friends. You can only imagine the excitement.

Day 1: The beginning of the adventure – Arriving in Jim Corbett

From Lucknow, we took the Chandigarh Express train to Muradabad, from where we took another train to Ramnagar (the nearest station to Jim Corbett). After a long train journey, we had a pick-up scheduled from Ramnagar all the way to our resort – Corbett Tusk & Roar Resort. But the train, Indian by nature, got around three hours late. So we reached the resort at 12:30 in the afternoon, stretched our bodies and relished the delicious lunch.

Since our first day was at leisure, we booked a taxi and went for local sightseeing. Our driver guided us throughout the day and took us to the Corbett Waterfall. I had witnessed a dam earlier but this was my first time at a waterfall. And to witness a ceaseless flow of water with a fierce thrust — was simply astounding. We spent quite a lot of time hanging around at the falls before proceeding towards the Corbett Museum.

Now the Corbett Museum is one of the few but popular tourist attractions near the Jim Corbett National Park. The museum features some carefully maintained skeletons of animals and also accommodates Jim Corbett’s personal belongings like his sketches, manuscripts, and even his last hunted animal. We had a good time at the museum and left for the Garjiya Devi Temple.

Located on the outskirts of the Corbett National Park, Garjiya Devi Temple is supported by a giant rock. We had to climb a long array of steep stairs to reach the temple, but the darshan was rather brief (but beautiful). We did a parikrama around the temple and sat beside the shore of river Kosi for a while. Retreating from the temple, we stopped by at the “jhoola” – an old rustic bridge on the way.

The sightseeing had taken around 7 hours of the day and as the sun went down, we too thought of going back to the resort. At dinner time, a bonfire had been lit in the open, where other families residing at the resort joined us for dinner. We all put our Bluetooth speakers to work, danced and had a great evening. It was a beautiful day altogether.
