Asian-Inspired Nuri Steakhouse to Open in Uptown
What’s hot, what’s coming up: it’s coming attractions.
When it rains, it pours and today brings restaurant opening announcements galore. First up: Nuri Steakhouse will open in Uptown on Cedar Springs in the summer of 2023. Dallasite Wan Kim, who owns Nuri Grill on Royal Lane in Koreatown and is the CEO of Smoothie King, has charged chef Minji Kim with developing the steakhouse menu using feedback from diners at Nuri Grill.
In a press release, Kim reveals that Nuri Grill will transform into a different concept once Nuri Steakhouse opens, and he will transition to the steakhouse. When it opens, Nuri Steakhouse will serve dinner and drinks nightly and brunch on the weekends.

Marcus Paslay, known for his work at Clay Pigeons, Piatello, and Provender Hall in Fort Worth, is opening another restaurant. Walloon’s will be a seafood restaurant in a new mixed-use development called The 701, located in Near Southside at the corner of Hemphill Street and W. Magnolia Avenue. It’s projected to open in summer 2023, according to a press release.
The folks behind the Katy Trail Ice House are opening the Depot, telling the Dallas Morning News it will have the vibe of places like Adair’s or Out of Time Tavern — that is, it’ll be a dive bar. While the Ice House is known as a patio and a bucket of beers kind of spot, the Depot will be all indoors and only seat around 125 folks. It’s expected to open in 2023.
