Put the two together and you get a long list of amazing south west brewery venues with great views.
To help beer enthusiasts on their next beer adventure, our friends over at Beer Is OK have created a list of 10 West Australian breweries to enjoy while exploring the south west.
So, grab some friends, pack your bags and fuel the car before heading off on a road trip all the way from Perth to Esperance.

1. Old Coast Road Brewery
First on the list of south west breweries is Old Coast Road Brewery in Myalup, a quick two-minute detour from Forrest Hwy.
Set amongst lush greenery and large olive garden, Old Coast Road Brewery have utilised their 60-acre rural property perfectly so all patrons can admire nature while stopping in for a bite or drink. The venue looks out onto a large sporting oval and kids’ playground, with the option of indoor or outdoor seating. It’s also a local favourite for weddings and large corporate events.
With a huge range of beers, this south west brewery has something to suit all taste buds.
Better yet, the designated driver doesn’t need to miss out! Old Coast Road Brewery offer takeaway beers in canimals (1lt cans) or upgrade to a growler (2lt glass bottle) filled with your favourite beer.
2. Mash Brewery Bunbury
Located right on the Bunbury waterfront overlooking Koombana Bay, Mash Brewing is the perfect south west brewery location for small groups seeking a delicious lunch or dinner matched with mouth-watering beer.
Pull up a few seats and look out onto the water as the day slowly drifts away. Mash Brewing has been in operation since 2006. Since then, they have been racking up an impressive list of awards for their core and seasonal beer ranges, so you know you’ll be in for a treat when you visit.
And the food menu is just as impressive.
For Perth beer enthusiast looking to enjoy delicious fresh mash beer without the journey to Bunbury, they also have a venue located in WA’s award-winning swan valley region. But we definitely recommend making the trip to their south west brewery.
3. Rocky Ridge Brewing Co Cellar Door
Next stop on the journey is Rocky Ridge Brewing Co’s cellar door in Busselton.
Rocky Ridge has been a talk amongst the town within the beer community in the past few years as they continue to release amazing beer after beer. So, if you’re on a trip down south, this location cannot be missed.
While their small cellar door in Busselton does have a few small light meal options, it’s not the place to visit for a full lunch or dinner. It is, however, the place to visit for 100ml tastings with 25 taps in operation, ensuring you can taste their range as fresh as can be. Alternatively, grab some takeaway beers (remember to pack your growlers) and enjoy them back at your accommodation location.
If you’re looking to stay close by, book in at Busselton Lazy Days Caravan Park, located just a short 8 minutes’ drive away.
4. Cowaramup Brewing Company
A quick 4-minute detour from Bussell Hwy and you’ll find Cowaramup Brewing Company, located in Cowaramup. The family-owned microbrewery is home to some delicious beers, with 6+ core beers on tap.
Cowaramup Brewing’s range of beers are very rare to find outside of the brewery and for most, visiting the brewery is the only way you’ll manage to experience them. The range is handcrafted and sure to please.
The south west brewery venue is definitely a favourite amongst locals and beer enthusiasts, with a range of local events and specials (keep an eye on their socials).
5. Colonial Brewing Co
Located in Bramley (part of the amazing Margaret River region), Colonial Brewing Co is the south west home of live music and delicious beers.
Featuring a strong core range of 5 beers (and a cider) including a draught, IPA and sour, Colonial Brewing Co are well known for their unique packaging with a ring pull that opens the whole can. However, you’ll be drinking straight from the tap when you visit, so grab a tasting paddle and settle in for a relaxing afternoon.
The scenic venue is often hosting live acts and events for the local community and visitors from afar. Suitable for larger groups, and tables set for smaller groups, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating.
Colonial Brewing Co also has a venue in Port Melbourne for travellers visiting the east coast of Australia. Although the south west Australia brewery was the original, and dare we say the best!
6. Margaret River Brewhouse
As the name suggests, Margaret River Brewhouse is located in Margaret River at the north end of the town centre.
The most central of all breweries in the Margaret River region (and just a stone’s throw from Riverview Tourist Park), the south west brewery brews an extensive range of beer. With 8 core beers and a range of rotating and seasonal beers, you’re sure to find a beer to suit your tastebuds.
The south west venue is perfect for large groups and young families with a large playground and sandpit. The large menu also accommodates children and adults alike, which is important when their ‘Pony Pallet’ is available which includes 8 beer tastings of your choice.
If you’re staying close to the Margaret River town centre, Margaret River Brewhouse is a must-visit!
7. Jarrah Jacks Brewery
Jarrah Jacks Brewery is located in Pemberton WA, between Margaret River and Walpole.
With a beautiful scenic location showcasing rolling vineyards and green lawns, Jarrah Jacks Brewery offers a range of delicious handcrafted beers to be enjoyed looking out over the horizon. Match your beer with one of their fresh and imaginative menu items and you’re set for a delicious lunch in nature.
Jarrah Jacks is also the ideal location for events and brewery weddings, offering great views and a warm atmosphere. Make sure you stop off on your way through to Denmark.
8. Boston Brewing Co
Boston Brewing brewpub and restaurant in Denmark is the ideal location for young families, with a large open picnic area and veranda. Occupy the kids in the large children’s play area including sandpit and play equipment while the adults relax under shade indulging in a few of Boston’s best beers.
The seasonal menu is sure to impress and keep your family or group around for an extended lunch. The south west brewery also includes a covered stage for music during events (check their socials for upcoming events).
If you can’t make it all the way down to Denmark, you can get a small taste of Boston Brewing Co at their new beer venue in Victoria Park. While it might not have the rural scenic views of the Denmark brewery, it’s modern and sleek design is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
9. Wilson Brewing Company
Commonly recognised by their whale logo, Wilson Brewing Company have a south west brewery bar located in Albany, Western Australia.
The small and cosy venue is perfect for couples and small groups looking to stop in for a beer or two. But the fun doesn’t need to stop at the bar, Wilson Brewing Company also offer takeaway cans and cartons of their core range – it doesn’t get much fresher than that.
The south west brewery also welcomes local and travelling musicians to play, offering patrons a relaxing atmosphere while you watch the day pass by with your favourite beer in hand.
Next stop is Esperance. So, strap in for the 5-hour journey east.
10. Lucky Bay Brewing
Just a short drive from Esperance, Lucky Bay’s south west brewery is located in Western Australia’s Bandy Creek. Originally positioned at Esperance’s Pink Lake, the new beer venue and Esperance restaurant only opened its doors in December 2019.
The venue is set up to offer a relaxed atmosphere for couples and small groups. Sit down for a meal and order an original tasting paddle featuring the award-winning beers Lucky Bay are known for. After you decide which beer from the tasting paddle is your favourite, Lucky Bay Brewing also offer takeaway canimals (1lt cans). Be sure to stop past Lucky Bay beach while you’re in Esperance as well!
