But there are also several electric SUVs from premium brands, including the Audi Q4 E-Tron, BMW iX, Cadillac Lyriq, Genesis GV60, and Volvo C40. 2023 Audi e-tron

According to Consumer Reports, the Audi e-tron combines premium all-wheel drive performance in an all-electric package. The midsized e-tron is excellent to drive with effortless power, quick acceleration, and responsive handling. The 95-kWh battery gives it an estimated range of 222 miles. That’s less than some competitors but still plenty for most drivers.

2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV

Chevrolet’s Bolt EUV, according to Consumer Reports, is the crossover version of the Bolt EV compact car. It shares the same 200-hp electric motor and front-wheel drive, as well as the brisk performance. It’s a larger, more comfortable vehicle than the standard Bolt, but still on the small side for an SUV. The range is estimated at 247 miles. But what’s most impressive is the technology. It shares the regular Kona’s interior layout, making it more familiar to first-time electric car buyers. The Kona’s driving range is an impressive 258 miles, and it comes with a long list of safety features.

Kia Niro Electric

The Kia Niro Electric, per Consumer Reports, is the fraternal twin of the Hyundai Kona. It, too, is available as a hybrid or fully-electric vehicle. At 253 miles, the estimated range is slightly less than the Kona. Still, it offers the same features as the Kona, including a traditional interior and lots of standard technology and safety features.

2023 Tesla Model X

The Model X, according to Consumer Reports, was Tesla’s first electric crossover and offered plenty of room and seating for up to seven passengers. The Model X is shockingly quick and handles more like a sports sedan than an SUV. It also offers some exotic features like a new yoke steering wheel and the Falcon-Wing doors that open upwards. The range is approximately 230 miles, and owners get the added benefit of using Tesla’s supercharging network.

Per Consumer Reports, the Model Y is basically an SUV version of Tesla’s Model 3 sedan. It shares the same platform and features, and offers similar performance. Like the Model 3 and Model X, the Model Y is surprisingly fast and agile. The Model Y also offers up to 330 miles of range and also can use Tesla’s Superchargers for recharging.

2023 Volkswagen ID4

According to Consumer Reports, the Volkswagen ID.4 is the company’s first long-range electric crossover. It offers up to 280 miles of range and combines quick acceleration with a comfortable ride. Unlike some other electric SUVs, the ID4 trades sports car-like performance for battery range, roominess, and practicality. Like most of the other SUVs on this list, it comes equipped with a comprehensive mix of active and passive safety features.

2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge

According to Consumer Reports, the XC40 is Volvo’s entry into the small luxury SUV market. It’s primarily a gasoline-engined vehicle, but the Recharge model offers buyers an electronic-only option. Battery range and other performance info were not available at the time of this article. However, by all accounts, the XC40 should share its dynamics with the standard model, including a well-equipped, premium interior and all of Volvo’s safety equipment.
