DIY Heel Repair Stick
I love sandals, so when the weather gets warm I wear them almost exclusively! Unfortunately, my love of sandals has a negative effect on my feet…..dry, cracked heels! Dry heels can be unattractive and even painful, but we don’t have to live with them!
I came across this recipe for a nourishing Heel Repair Stick, and I knew I must try it! And it certainly didn’t disappoint – my heels felt softer and smoother after the first application! I actually ended up using it all over my dry feet and plan on using it every night before bed to help stave off the misery of dry heels this summer! 🙂
Heel Repair Stick
adapted from Saved By Grace
- 1/3 cup virgin coconut oil
- 1/3 cup beeswax pastilles
- 3 Tbsp shea butter
- 5 drops Vitamin E
Start by adding the coconut oil, the beeswax, and the shea butter to a glass pint jar (or similarly sized glass container).
Place the jar into a small pot of simmering water. The pot only needs enough water to cover about half the jar when you place it in the pot.
Using some bamboo skewers or chopsticks, stir the mixture in the jar occasionally until everything has melted. The coconut oil will melt first, followed by the shea butter, and the beeswax will melt last.
Once everything is melted together, turn off the stove and remove the jar from the water. Add the Vitamin E to the jar, along with the Lavender and Frankincense essential oils, and stir again.
Pour the mixture into a clean, empty deodorant canister, and allow it to cool completely. It will cool in an hour or so at room temperature, but you can speed up the cooling process by placing it into the fridge for a few minutes.
Use as needed to prevent, heal, and repair dry, cracked heels!
