Dodge has revealed details of its upcoming EV ute, the Ram 1500 Revolution, that will be officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023) in Las Vegas on January 5, 2023.

Ahead of its launch in January, Dodge has shared a teaser image that showcases the design language of the Ram EV ute. This is on top of the images Dodge has previously shared about this ute that is set to replace the current V8 ICE utes starting in 2024.

Dodge puts its EV ute or pickup truck strategy as:

“Loaded with exclusive advanced technology features, the Ram Revolution BEV Concept is a visionary roadmap and a glimpse into the future, showing how the leading truck brand will once again redefine the pickup truck segment.

“Ram’s move toward electrification supports the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan to lead the way the world moves by delivering innovative, clean, safe and affordable mobility solutions.”

The press release also discusses the range of electrified solutions Ram plans on having to replace its current lineup with a deadline set for 2030.

“Ram will offer electrified solutions in the majority of its segments by 2025, and all of its segments no later than 2030.”

Iin Australia, the Dodge Ram 1500 ICE utes can be purchased from around $82,950 for the Express SWB and going all the way up to $199,950 for the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX. Both feature V8 with “Fuel Saver Technology” which works on a cylinder deactivation system.

So far this year, Dodge has sold more than 3,600 of the Ram 1500 ICE utes in Australia, with 557 being sold in September alone according to vFacts. That’s more than the Mitsubishi Triton 4 x 2 ute which is hovering around 2,800 sales for the year.

At those numbers, we need to see more electric offerings from brands like Ram in Australia to help reduce transport emissions. According to the latest announcement, Dodge is carving a path for that:

“Ram electric vehicles, including the Ram 1500 BEV production vehicle that debuts in 2024, will push past the competition as leaders in a combination of areas truck customers care about the most: range, towing, payload and charge time.”

It’s unlikely that Australia will see the Ram 1500 Revolution before 2025 but one thing is for sure, there would be plenty of other brands that would be looking for a piece of the Australian electric ute market by then.
