Buying the latest version of the Ford F-150 Raptor can be challenging. It’s an excellent model in all its forms, so choosing the perfect variant is daunting. However, those who simply want a manual transmission for their new F-150 performance model should search elsewhere. For the 2023 model year, there is no manual transmission offered with the Ford F-150 Raptor. In fact, past 2008, you can’t find a single F-150 model that still uses a manual transmission.
According to Edmunds, the new F-150 Raptor uses a high-output turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Each Raptor only comes with four-wheel drive, while other F-150s can use rear- or four-wheel drive. The base Raptor engine produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Alternatively, the upgraded new Raptor R model uses a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 good for 700 hp and 640 lb-ft. The Raptor R uses the same 10-speed automatic transmission and is only worth buying for those looking to max out their speedometer.

Buying a standard 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor costs $76,775. In addition to basic amenities provided in lower F-150 trims, the off-road model gains standard four-wheel drive, low-range gearing, 17-inch alloy wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 36-gallon gas tank, a Raptor off-roading suspension with adaptive Fox shock absorbers, Raptor fender flares and grille, and six upfitter switches.
Upgrading to the Raptor R changes the pickup quite a bit. Most notably, the engine is swapped for a more potent supercharged V8, and it gets 37-inch tires that are usually optional on the standard Raptor. It uses a six-speed manual transmission paired with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 285 horsepower. Unlike the Tacoma, the Gladiator comes standard with a manual gear shifter on most trim levels. However, an eight-speed manual is available for buyers who choose the diesel engine.
