Location: Norway

Location: Athens, Greece

Situated on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens, is the Acropolis. This ancient citadel is home to several classical buildings that date back to the 5th century BC. The Acropolis was inscribed by UNESCO in 1987 and is without a doubt one of the world’s most famous ancient sites! Location: France

Mont Saint-Michel is one of the most-visited places in France! This striking tidal island commune sits just off the coast of Normandy and is without a doubt a truly picturesque destination! Mont Saint-Michel is steeped in history and is most famous for its magnificent centuries-old abbey that dominates the rocky islet. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and continues to attract thousands of visitors annually. 5. Giant’s Causeway

Location: Northern Ireland

Over 40,000 basalt columns make up the rocky landscape of the Giant’s Causeway! Inscribed in 1986 as an area of great geological importance, the columns date back a whopping 60 million years! 7. Cappadocia

Location: Turkey

8. Budapest

Location: Hungary

Hungary’s capital city is famous for its hot springs, its history and the incredible architecture lining the Danube River! Buildings such as the Hungarian Parliament Building, Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, St. Stephen’s Basilica and more, are illustrations of various great periods in Budapest’s history. 9. Cinque Terre

Location: Italy

Italy officially has the highest number of World Heritage Sites in the world, with 58 incredible UNESCO sites within its borders! While it’s a challenge to pick just one to include, we have decided on Cinque Terre as one of the most beautiful!

Perched on the gorgeous Italian Riviera, you’ll find five quaint and colourful villages. These historic seaside villages, located on a rugged stretch of coastline, look out over the Ligurian Sea, with the picturesque setting making Cinque Terre an incredibly popular travel destination! Owing to its great scenic and cultural value, Cinque Terre was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, along with several other small towns and islands along the Ligurian Coast. No cars are allowed in the villages of Cinque Terre. This means that residents and visitors can only access the area on foot, by train or by boat. 10. Historic Centre of Riga

Location: Latvia

Finally, for the finest Art Nouveau buildings in Europe, visit Riga! The capital of Latvia is the largest and most vibrant capital city of the Baltic states. The Historic Centre of Riga was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 due to it being a “living illustration of European history!” Riga has been at the centre of several historic European events.
