There are 2 different methods to making soap: cold press and melt and pour.

I chose the melt and pour method due to kids running around house. I know the cold press way can be safely done, however, I just didn’t want to risk it.

Basically, with the melt and pour method, you are starting with a soap as a base and melting it back down, to create a new style of soap.

IMPORTANT: When making soap, it is very important that you choose dyes and fragrances that are SKIN SAFE! Please be aware of this if you choose to make your own.

I choose not to use a scent with this soap recipe since I was unsure what I would want the galaxy to smell like. If you choose to add a scent, make sure it is Skin Safe!!

Preparing the Soap Molds for making Galaxy Soap

Cut 1 pound of the goats milk soap base into 1 inch chunks.

Place them in a large glass measuring cup and place in the microwave. Microwave the soap base in 45 second increments until it is melted. Stir every 45 seconds. Please beware that you can burn your soap.

Cut the Soap Base for preparation for melting

When the soap is fully melted, add a bit of the white to the soap base. Use a popsicle stick to stir it in. Yes, I know it is already white, but it does add more sparkle. 🙂

Gently pour the soaps into the molds. You should get almost 5 full bars of soap. You may not want to fill them totally to the top like I did in the photo. You will want to be able to stir without spilling over the sides.

Using a popsicle stick, gently stir around the soap to swirl it around.

Spray the top of the soap with rubbing alcohol. This will pop any bubbles that come to the top of the soap.

Galaxy Soap just needs to harden back up.

Allow the soap to fully cool down, about 3 hours, before popping them out of the molds.
