- brown sugar. you can use light brown sugar or dark brown sugar.
- regular soy sauce. You do not want to use low sodium soy sauce or low-salt soy sauce.
- honey. Use real honey, it is very important to use real honey when making this recipe.
- fresh garlic. Grate the cloves of garlic before getting started cooking.
- ground ginger. You can use fresh ginger and ground it yourself of use store bought ground ginger.
- corn starch.
Homemade Teriyaki Sauce Directions
In a medium sauce pan whisk together 1 cup of water, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger.
Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil.
While bringing the the sauce to a boil in a small bowl whisk together 1/3 cup water and cornstarch to create a slurry.
Once the sauce mixture on the stove is boiling slowly add the cornstarch and water mixture and mix well.
Bring the sauce back to a boil, continue cooking the sauce until you have reached the thickness that you desire.

In a medium sauce pan whisk together the water, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic and ginger.
