It's October and Cybersecurity Is Scarier Than Halloween!
Auto-ISAC launches its October Cybersecurity Awareness Month videos.
Getty ImagesThe Automotive Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Auto-ISAC) is an industry-driven community. Its purpose is to share and analyze intelligence about emerging cybersecurity risks to the vehicle and to collectively enhance vehicle cybersecurity capabilities across the global automotive industry. It holds a monthly community call, which this month focuses on its 2022 cybersecurity awareness project that is being launched as part of the national October Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
The key objective of the community call was to focus on the fact cybersecurity is not a bolt-on solution. Like safety and quality, it needs to be designed in from the concept phase and supported through the product’s lifecycle. In this modern vehicle ecosystem, cybersecurity is everybody’s responsibility.
To support these goals and to further education, Christine Pelione, General Motors’ cybersecurity strategic risk manager and Auto-ISAC Education & Training Standing Committee vice chair, shared the work the committee has developed over the past six months that has resulted in a series of four videos that will be released during the month of October. The attached slide from the presentation shows the storyboard that has been developed identifying the key areas each video will share with the automotive industry with the intent of raising awareness.
The first TLP-White video was released Oct. 3 and is titled “We are all connected.” The second goes live today and is focused on “Purpose Driven Security.” The third, to be released Oct. 17, is focused on manufacturing with the title “Working together to securely Build & Deliver” and the final video, to be released Oct. 24, will be about continuously supporting security over the lifecycle of the vehicle.
This is an important set of awareness videos because Auto-ISAC has linked together all aspects of the cybersecurity threat landscape across the entire automotive lifecycle. To access these videos click this link Auto-ISAC website .
