Lay's Releases Three New Chip Flavors For The World Cup
The new additions include Adobadas, Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Popper, and Wavy Carnitas Street Tacos.
We’re still a few weeks away from the start of the World Cup, and fans have already been given a crispy gift. In honor of this year’s tournament, which will take place in Qatar in November and December, Lay’s has a handful of exciting announcements.
First up, Lay’s will be releasing three, limited-edition chip flavors to celebrate the sporting event. The trio of “globally inspired flavors” includes Adobadas, Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Popper, and Wavy Carnitas Street Tacos.
In addition to introducing three new flavors for fans to snack on, Lay’s is also providing consumers with the chance to win soccer swag and even a trip to the World Cup final as part of its Pass the Ball Challenge.
“Soccer is the fastest growing sport in North America and, with snacking so intrinsically tied to the at-home viewing experience, now is the perfect moment to enter the game and offer our consumers new ways to heighten their FIFA World Cup experience,” said Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing, Frito-Lay North America, in a statement. “As teams from around the world compete in the FIFA World Cup, we wanted to provide a way to connect fans over their love of the game – and love of snacks – to deliver even more smiles throughout the tournament.”
To take part in the Pass the Ball Challenge, all you have to do is purchase specially marked Frito-Lay products and scan the QR code. Once you’ve scanned the QR code, you’ll be able to play a variety of games for your chance to win big.
