Londoners shocked at how big one Chicken Cottage is as they joke it's more 'like a stately home'

Londoners have pointed out that the Chicken Cottage store in Tooting is noticeably large

Chicken shops are integral to London’s operations. As the culinary backbone of the city it’s no surprise there are a cornucopia of restaurants serving the mouth-watering offerings of the humble chicken.

Everyone has their favourite but perhaps most renowned for its gastronomy is Chicken Cottage. Home to delectable fried and grilled chicken, sumptuous sides and heavenly desserts, the food has long been praised all across the world.

Usually found nestled into the unappealing corners of the high street, the shrines that bare the delicious offerings are usually recognisably shabby. But Londoners have been left amazed at one particular Chicken Cottage shop in Tooting.

Unlike its counterparts, the store is noticeably spacious and people have been quick to point it out. Taking to social media, one person said: “That is the biggest Chicken Cottage I have ever seen. It looks like they bought some clothing store and turned it into a Chicken Cottage.”

Another added: “Spoke to the bouncer here once and he proudly announced that ‘it’s the largest Chicken Cottage in Europe’.” Meanwhile, others decided that the shops name no longer seemed fitting considering the size so began spit balling alternatives.

One suggested: “Chicken Condo.” Another quipped: “Chicken Emporium.” Whilst a third chimed in: “Chicken Stately home.”
