London’s best restaurant hits out at terrible reviews after customers complain of ‘slow service’ and ‘lack of options’
London’s best restaurant, De Vine Restaurant Coffee Bar, has hit out against negative reviews. The small, family-run cafe has been ranked the best of London’s restaurants according to TripAdvisor for several weeks.
While most rave about the tiny caff – it has no negative reviews on Facebook or Yelp – there are a handful of people who weren’t satisfied with their experiences. On Tripadvisor, there is a single negative review of the caff amongst the 269 five-star ones.
The unhappy customer wrote: “Food was good, but staff have zero personality and the owner/manager is very ignorant and no customer service, in fact very rude.” The owner wasn’t pleased with the review and wrote: “I am shocked by this review even though we have signs clearly stating that ‘we thank you for your patience as we are under staffed and working with an inexperienced team at the moment‘.”
The cafe’s owner has hit back
They added: “I have never received a review like this and it goes against any other such review that we have had and can not recall why you would feel such way and who you are, all I can do is apologise but again the signs are clearly marked that we are under pressure this week.”
On Google Reviews, a handful of customers also voiced their unhappiness and the owner wasn’t shy in hitting back. One person wrote: “Although cheap, the food was not great. You can get better elsewhere for a slightly higher price.
“The service was extremely slow even though two waiters were covering the small restaurant. Bathroom was filthy and clearly had not been cleaned in ages. Kitchen was out of an ingredient so we couldn’t order one dish we would have wanted.”
The owner hit back at the review as he wrote: “For someone on holiday your attitude should improve, we are a family run establishment and went out of our way to accommodate you and let you know that as we close on weekends and supply issues a mere small percentage of items were unavailable.
“I hope replacing brie with mozzarella doesn’t spoil your holiday too much but with an attitude like you had you would be a very hard person to please in any circumstance. If there was a problem it would be appreciated if you came and spoke to me rather than put a review up that absolutely contradicts every other review that we get.
The small caff serves classic food
“But there is no pleasing some people, but thankfully most have the right attitude to life, enjoy your trip.” Another person who claims they “waited 25 minutes to order with no luck. Too small and busy for breakfast hours,” got told: “Please again accept our apologies but also take a long hard look at yourself leaving reviews like this.”
One person harshly said “Hope you learn how to cook.” The owner hit back: “This seems unfair and against any other review that we have received, a bit of feedback would have been appreciated or maybe this is normal for yourself, I hope your life gets better and you find something more productive to do with your time, thanks.”
