McDonald’s McRib Is Returning, But It Could Be for the Last Time
McDonald’s McRib Is Returning, But It Could Be for the Last Time
If you know McDonald’s, you know the McRib. This fan-favorite menu item has gained somewhat of a cult following over the years. Originally introduced back in 1981, this barbecue pork patty sandwich failed to gain much traction with the McDonald’s crowd. It was still available in select locations, but very soon after, the diehard McRib fans made their opinions known—they wanted their sandwich returned now. Since the early 2000s, the McDonald’s McRib has been introduced back into circulation at particular times of the year to appease the pork-loving masses.
We can expect the McRib to make its 2022 return, but there’s something more you should know.
Is the McRib Back at McDonald’s for Good?
Unfortunately, no. According to CNN Business, “McDonald’s teased in a statement that ‘this could be your last chance to taste it’ because the chain confirmed that it won’t be sold nationally for a while following this promotion.”
So no, this isn’t just another McDonald’s rumor. McDonald’s may have plans to oust the delicious barbecue pork sandwich—if not for good, then definitely for a good, long time after this run. While specific details were not given as to why the sandwich may be making its last rounds, there’s one very important fact to remember: it’s still available this year. That means we need to giddy-up and get going to our local Golden Arches to pick up as many McRibs as possible for its (possible) last hurrah.
McDonald’s did give a promising statement while talking about the McRib’s future, however. “Like any true farewell tour, we’re hoping this isn’t a ‘goodbye’ but a ‘see you later.’ Because as our McRib stans have experienced time and time again: you never know when — or if — the McRib is coming back.”
A world without the McRib is a much sadder world.
When Can I Get It?
You can grab your own on October 31, but not for long. Remember that this is a limited run and it may only be available until supplies last. Now I know you’re upset, but don’t worry. There are plenty of other goodies to try on the McDonald’s secret menu in the meantime. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to try the Land, Air, and Sea sandwich, don’t you think? It’s what the McRib would want.
