Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV is poised to be the brand’s all-new flagship model when it arrives in showrooms this November, starting at $41,190.

At that price consumers will be able to snag the entry-level ES trim; said price includes Mitsubishi’s $1,345 destination charge for the continental United States. The ES trim is followed by six other configurations, including a range-topping 40th Anniversary Edition, which nets $51,340 with delivery.

All models are capable of up to 38 miles of all-electric range, though total range with the gasoline engine is bumped up to an estimated 420 miles. This is achieved by Mitsubishi’s standard “Super All-wheel Control” all-wheel drive system, which uses the gasoline engine and an electric motor to drive the front wheels and a standalone electric motor for the rear. Total system output is rated at 248 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, with an efficiency of 64 MPGe.

Other standard features for the seven-seater utility include a 12.3-inch LCD information display and an 8-inch infotainment display, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A suite of safety features are also included, like Hill Descent Control, Trailer Stability Assist, Blind Spot Assist and more. Stepping up to the SE trim grants more accouterments, like heated front seats and a 9-inch infotainment display. An available Tech Package with the SE adds a power-panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror and Bose nine-speaker audio system.

The most important thing about the SEL and up may be charging, as they receive DC fast-charging capabilities, filling the 20 kilowatt hour battery pack to 80 percent in 38 minutes. The SEL sees the SE equipment, plus things like leather appointed seats (heated in the rear) and 3-zone climate control, while the SEL Touring throws in the sunroof and Bose sound system, along with a heated steering wheel and a Head-Up Display. SEL Premium rounds it out with semi-Aniline leather seats with massage functions up front, plus a black roof. And that 40th Anniversary Edition? It’s an SEL Premium with Black Diamond Paint contrasted by a bronze-colored roof, and, of course, 40th anniversary badging.

Each trim slots in somewhere between the $41K-$51K pricetages of the model’s entry and top models. Expect the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander to arrive in showrooms this November.
