Stoli Group announced the release of its latest collaboration, the Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon Whiskey. This bourbon was a joint effort between Master Blender John Rhea from Kentucky Owl and Yusuke Yahisa from Japanese distillery Nagahama. The latest limited-edition release blends new and old, intending to showcase Kentucky bourbon through Japanese whisky’s eyes. The Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 50% ABV and retails for $150.

Old Pulteney Kicks Off Coastal Series With ‘Most Innovative Cask Maturation Yet’

Scotch whisky brand Old Pulteney launched a limited-edition series of whiskies called The Coastal Series. The collection’s first expression is Pineau des Charentes. This expression launched to the United Kingdom, France and Germany on Oct. 3. The no-age-statement release is bottled at 92 proof and retails for £75 ($87) per 700-milliliter bottle.

Glenmorangie Releases a New Expression Inspired by the Forest

Glenmorangie, a Highland single malt distiller, released a whisky made from barley kilned with woodland botanicals, aptly named Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest . Bottled at 46% ABV, Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest retails for $85 and launched Oct. 3 exclusively from Selfridges until Oct. 17.

Ross & Squibb, formerly known as MGP, Indiana’s biggest whiskey producer, launched a whiskey inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, “The Great Gatsby.”

Bottled at 97.8 proof, Remus Gatsby Reserve comes from Ross & Squibb-owned George Remus Bourbon. The 15-year-old straight bourbon was produced at the 175-year-old Ross & Squibb distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Remus Gatsby Reserve launched in limited quantities for a suggested price of $199.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.

High West Marks a Decade of ‘A Midwinter Night’s Dram’ With Release of Act 10

Park City, Utah distillery High West released A Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10, which marked the 10th anniversary of the expression.

Bottled at 98.6 proof, A Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10 was made available at the High West distillery as well as at retailers nationwide in limited quantities. It retails for $125 in Utah and $150 in other states. A Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10 is made from High West’s Rendezvous Rye, which is finished in ruby and tawny port barrels. Rendezvous Rye is a blend of two mashbills, one comprising 95% rye and 5% barley malt from MGP and the other comprising 80% rye and 20% malted rye from High West distillate.

As part of its Experimental Batch Series, Chattanooga Whiskey released Bourbon Barreled Gin and Moscatel + Sauternes Barrel Finished Bourbon.

Chattanooga Whiskey began its experimental series back in 2017 with Batch 001. The 100-gallon Experimental Distillery in Tennessee is the birthplace of The Experimental Single Batch Series. A limited collection of single-batch whiskeys and spirits.

Penelope’s Newest Bourbon Features Time Spent Finishing In Naranja Orange Wine Casks Straight From Spain

Penelope Bourbon announced the release of its newest limited-release bourbon, Penelope Valencia. This is Penelope’s first bourbon to be finished in Vino de Naranja casks from Spain and is the third expression to join the brand’s Cooper Series, which marries the brand’s straight whiskeys with wine casks worldwide.

Valencia is bottled at 97 proof and limited to only 1,500 cases. The new bourbon retails for $75 online and at select retailers. Keep your eyes peeled for our review of this whiskey coming soon.

GlenDronach Launches ‘A Single Malt of Elegant Finesse’ Grandeur Batch 11

The GlenDronach Distillery announced the release of The GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11. Master Blender Rachel Barrie hand-selected Batch 11 from a small number of rare 28-year-old Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks.

The GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11, available at a suggested retail price of $800, is bottled at 48.9% ABV and developed its color over time from the Spanish oak barrels that it aged in. There are only a handful of Grandeur Batch 11 bottles available, each coated with wax and individually numbered by hand to show its scarcity.

Buffalo Trace this month unveiled its 2022 Antique Collection.

Key to the release is the return of the extra-aged straight Bourbon George T. Stagg: a bruiser typically weighing in at north of 120 proof and aged at least 15 years old. George T. Stagg was absent in 2021’s Antique Collection, leading to rashes of speculation and criticism across the world of whiskey.

Colorado distillery Stranahan’s, known for its American single malt whiskeys, announced the re-release of Stranahan’s Mountain Angel 10-Year, which the brand calls “one of their distillery’s rarest releases.”

Bottled at 90.2 proof, Stranahan’s Mountain Angel 10-Year is the brand’s third-ever American Single Malt aged 10 years. This year for the first time, the whiskey’s price has been reduced from $129.99 to $99.99.

Scotch whisky producer Loch Lomond unveiled a 54-year-old single malt priced at £24,000 ($26,928). Only 55 bottles of the rare whisky were made available.

Bottled at 41.1% ABV, Loch Lomond 54 Years Old was distilled in 1967 and aged in refill American oak hogshead casks before being recasked into a refill European oak sherry hogshead in 1994.

‘Truly a Collector’s Edition’: Wyoming Whiskey is Releasing Only 150 Bottles of its New Bourbon

Wyoming Whiskey announced the release of its 1872 9-year-old straight bourbon whiskey, a launch so limited that only 150 bottles will be available. The number of bottles made available is presumably a nod to the 150th anniversary of Yellowstone National Park, which was in March. Bottled at 116 proof, 1872 is a 9-year-old bourbon made from a blend of 93% wheated bourbon and 7% ryed bourbon. It will retail for $399.99.

Kings of Leon Releases Kiamichi Whiskey Collection, Including a $1,500 Bourbon

Rock band Kings of Leon’s new Kiamichi Whiskey was officially released. The limited collection comprises three expressions and is a collaboration between the band and Kentucky distillery Willett.

The whiskey is named after the Kiamichi River, where brothers and bandmates Caleb, Jared, Nathan and Matthew Folowill grew up gathering for family reunions.

The release comprises three whiskeys: a 5-year rye that is a 12-barrel blend of both Willett rye mashbills aged in Char 5, 24-month cured oak; an 8-year rye that is a 6-barrel blend of Willett’s low-rye mashbill aged in Char 4, 9-month cured oak; and a 19-year bourbon that is a single-barrel release bottled at cask strength. The 19-year whiskey is a nod to the 19th anniversary of the band’s debut album, “Youth and Young Manhood.”

Chicken Cock Whiskey announced the release of Chicken Cock Chanticleer, a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in French Cognac barrels. Bottled at 112 proof, this release’s mashbill comprises 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley. Thirty-two barrels of Chanticleer were produced.

Chicken Cock Chanticleer is available online from the Chicken Cock website at a suggested retail price of $499 per 750-milliliter bottle.

WhistlePig Whiskey, the Vermont-based brand known almost exclusively for its rye whiskeys, announced the release of the ninth rye whiskey in its high-end Boss Hog series.

The limited-edition Boss Hog IX: Siren’s Song is available in a 750-milliliter bottle and is bottled between 102.5 and 106.2 proof. This whiskey releases for a suggested retail price of $599.99. It will be sold at premium liquor stores, bars and restaurants across the U.S.

Fast food chain Arby’s this month launched Arby’s Smoked Bourbon, a 90-proof spirit that Arby’s describes as “an aged bourbon whiskey smoked with hickory, mesquite, and pecan woods.”

Arby’s Smoked Bourbon launched for $60 at ArbysSmokedBourbon.com in limited quantities that quickly sold out.

‘A Fresh Approach’: Blue Run Spirits Launches Flight Series With 6 ‘Micro Batch’ Bourbons

Jameson, the world’s biggest Irish whiskey brand, this month brought back Jameson Single Pot Still, which it hasn’t released since the 1960s.

Bottled at 92 proof, Jameson Single Pot Still is available now on the Midleton Distillery website, priced at ¢60 ($59) per 700-milliliter bottle.

Alberta Distillers, maker of Alberta Premium Rye Whiskey, which was the world’s best-selling whiskey made from 100% rye, according to the 2021 IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, on Wednesday announced the 2022 release of its limited-edition Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye.

Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye, crafted and distilled in Alberta, Canada, was first released in 2020, making this the third annual release.

Bottled at 127 proof, Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye will be available in limited quantities in select U.S. markets starting this month for a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.

Diageo-owned Johnnie Walker, the world’s most popular brand of scotch whisky, has announced the global launch of Johnnie Walker Blonde, a whisky whose lightness and sweetness is intended to make it “more accessible.”

Johnnie Walker Blonde was introduced in 2021 to select markets in Brazil, Mexico, the U.S., Bulgaria, Germany and Thailand, but now it’s going global.

Islay-based distillery Ardbeg has a reputation for smoky, peat-stuffed whiskies, but its latest release puts its previous ones to shame in that category, according to the brand.

Ardbeg Hypernova, which is available exclusively for members of the Ardbeg Committee, was unveiled this month. Bottled at 51% ABV, Ardbeg Hypernova is available for a suggested retail price of £190 ($218). A “small number of bottles” were made available from the distillery.

Pernod Ricard-owned Royal Salute has released a 53-year-old whisky as the first expression in a new collection called The Art of Wonder.

The collection will be created in collaboration with artists. The first whisky’s partner is British sculptor Kate MccGwire, who specializes in the use of feathers. MccGwire created a bespoke piece to accompany the 53-year-old whisky, which is named Forces of Nature.

Twenty-one decanters of the whisky are available. The decanters were made by British manufacturer Dartington Crystal.

Five of the decanters are available to travelers in the Hainan, Sydney, London Heathrow, Dubai International and Changi airports. This whiskey is priced at $90,000.

Idaho-based Grand Teton Distillery announced the release of its 8-Year Grand Teton Private Stock Straight Bourbon. This is the longest-aged whiskey to be released from an Idaho distillery, Grand Teton said in a news release. This expression is the second in Grand Teton Distillery’s Private Stock series, following the release of its Straight Corn Whiskey last October.

8-Year Grand Teton Private Stock Straight Bourbon was aged in charred American white oak barrels at 6,000 feet at “extreme temperatures,” the brand said. Available in an embossed gift box, 16 barrels of the limited-release whiskey are for sale, priced at $79.95 per 750-milliliter bottle. The bourbon can be purchased at the distillery, online and from select retailers throughout the West.

The Jack Daniel Distillery announced the two latest whiskeys — both ryes — in its Distillery Series, formerly called the Tennessee Tasters’ Selection. Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series selection #8 is a Toasted Maple Barrel Rye, and selection #9 is a Toasted Barrel Finished Rye.

The new expressions are bottled at 101 proof and were selected by husband and wife Josh and Lexie Phillips — who work as a taster and an assistant distiller for Jack Daniel’s.

Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Toasted Barrel Finished Rye and Toasted Maple Barrel Rye are each available in a 375-milliliter bottle for a suggested retail price of $41.99 after tax at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop at the Jack Daniel Distillery and in select stores in Tennessee.

Beam Suntory-owned Knob Creek Bourbon announced its latest whiskey: Knob Creek 18 Year Old. This expression is the oldest to date Knob Creek, and its release coincides with the 30th anniversary of Knob Creek and the Small Batch Bourbon Collection.

Bottled at 100 proof, Knob Creek 18 Year Old is available now for a limited time at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $169.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.

The annual Van Winkle Collection release comprises six whiskeys, all of which sell out quickly every year and go on to sell for exorbitant prices on the secondary market.

Japanese whisky producer House of Suntory released a limited-edition bottling of Hibiki Harmony Japanese whisky that was finished in sakura wood casks.

Hibiki Blossom Harmony was designed to “celebrate the sakura blossom season in spring in Japan,” according to The Spirits Business. Bottled at 86 proof, the new expression launched Oct. 18 in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. It sells for a suggested retail price of £175 ($198). However, online retailers are already listing it for much higher than that price, with Dekanta listing it for $699.99 and Cask Cartel for $2,199.99.
