The brand-new WR-V SUV from Honda has been unveiled in the Indonesian market. India could get the new SUV, which is based on the SUV RS concept revealed in 2021.
The WR-V is different from its predecessor in terms of aesthetics and design and has a fresher, sportier look. The chrome-studded front grille is surrounded on either side by LED headlights and built-in DRLs. A new fog lamp housing with a black outline has been added to the front bumper.
The WR-SUV-like V’s appearance is further enhanced by the fore and aft skid plates. The WR-V is placed on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, while split LED taillamps and a roof-mounted spoiler further emphasize the rear of the vehicle.
The WR-V only receives the 1.5-litre, 121PS gasoline engine and CVT from the fifth-generation City. Neither a powerful hybrid nor a turbo-petrol engine are available. Honda could install the 1.2-litre petrol engine from the current model if it ends up in India.
The inside of the Honda WR-V resembles that of the India-spec Amaze, although it is all black with red accents on the door pads, dashboard, and steering wheel. The touchscreen infotainment system, automated climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry with push-button start, and a multi-info display are so highlights. It now has six airbags, electronic stability control, the ADAS suite from the City Hybrid, and ISOFIX child seat mounts, which is a significant improvement in terms of safety.
Speaking of which, Honda may need to make some significant alterations to the new WR-V in order to keep it inside the sub-4 metre threshold for tax incentives. Therefore, we anticipate it to visit India sometime in the following year. It will continue to compete against the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
