The chief executive of the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) believes there is little chance of the clean car standard’s roll-out being delayed.

David Vinsen, pictured, told Autofile Online on October 28 that VIA has been doing a lot of work on the standard, which is the latest strand of the government’s clean-car policies.

“We have been working flat out to prepare for the clean car standard and to ensure the smoothest possible implementation of it on January 1 – or for it to be as least disruptive as possible,” he says.

Vinsen met with Michael Wood, the Minister of Transport, a few weeks ago and reports “there appears to be no chance of its roll-out being delayed”.

However, Vinsen adds there will be “some good news soon about invoicing” when it comes to the standard’s implementation, although no major news in regard to the government policy is expected this week.
