Pastel Deviled Eggs

Confession time? I’m not a huge fan of deviled eggs. The taste is just not up my alley, well normally. These colored deviled eggs not only look beautiful but they taste amazing.

These Pastel Deviled Eggs are actually something that my friend often brings over and well, I recognize a good recipe when I see one!

What I love about these Easter Deviled Eggs is that they’re actually a fun activity for the kids too! They can help dye each egg and mash up the insides if they choose. I love it when I can get the kids in the kitchen with me.

If you’re hosting Easter dinner, these are a great side dish to offer as well. Or, throw a fun afternoon of Easter activities for the kids with these, DIY Easter Egg Garland, Temporary Tattoo Easter Eggs, and maybe some Goldfish Carrots!

These Pastel Deviled Eggs can also be a fun alternative to dying Easter Eggs….or a tasty way to use up any leftover hard-boiled Easter eggs. (I KNOW my family isn’t the only one that ends up with more hard-boiled eggs than they’d normally eat in a month at Easter!).

The recipe for Easter Deviled Eggs is the exact same as your traditional deviled eggs, with one added step.

To dye the egg whites, simply dip them in vinegar with food coloring for a few seconds. Allow it to drain on a paper towel and then continue as normal with the recipe.

Easy peasy! Having bright and festive deviled eggs is well worth the extra minute or two it takes, I think!

What’s the best food coloring for Easter Deviled Eggs?

If you are a normal follower for my recipes you will know with most of my recipes I recommend that you use gel food coloring so you end up with a very vibrate color. Well, this is one of the few recipes I break out the liquid food coloring. The gel food coloring really doesn’t dissolve well in the vinegar so you end up with spots on your eggs.

How to Hard Boil Eggs

Place your eggs in a single layer in the bottom of a pot. Cover it with two inches of water. Bring the water to a rolling boil on high heat. Turn the burner off but keep the pot on that burner. Cover with a lid and let them sit for 12 minutes. Drain the water and run the eggs under cool water. If you have never made hard boiled eggs check out the stove top hard boiled eggs for all the best tips.

You can also use other ways to make hard boiled eggs including Instant Pot Hard Boiled eggs, Oven Hard Boiled eggs, and air fryer hard boiled eggs.

How To Avoid a Green Ring Around Hard-Boiled Eggs

To avoid having hard boiled eggs with a green ring around your yoke you can bake your eggs instead. Check out here to learn how to make hard bake eggs .

Can I make Colored Deviled Eggs in advance?

Yes, you sure can! I like to hardboil a bunch of eggs all at once and then I can easily and quickly make deviled eggs with the hardboiled eggs I already have in the fridge. You can hard boil eggs up to a week in advance and use them as needed.

If you are wanting to prep deviled eggs ahead of time, cut the eggs in half and make the filling. Then store the deviled egg filling mixture in an airtight container. Put the egg whites on a serving tray or plate and carefully tightly wrap them with plastic wrap and store them in the fridge.

When it is time to make them, all you have to do is remove the plastic wrap from the eggs and put the filling in. The filling will keep for 2 days in the fridge.

How long do deviled eggs last?

Once the filling has been made it will keep fresh in the fridge for 2 days. If you make the filling ahead of time, you have 2 days from the day you made the filling.
