Popular Walthamstow kebab stall owner leaves customers gutted as he retires after 26 years

A much-loved Walthamstow food spot has waved goodbye to its owner, who announced his retirement to saddened customers last week. Seth, who has ran Seth’s Spice Hut, which has been feeding locals for over two decades, served his final kebabs on Saturday, October 29.

The trailer has been placed outside Specsavers and was open from 10am until 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 10am until 5pm on Saturdays. The stall, which serves kebab rolls and other moorish foodie treats, had managed to keep its prices low and made all their food fresh on site, making it a popular spot for Walthamstow residents.

However, Seth has now decided to retire. He notified fans of his last day via signs on his van.

They read: “Seth’s Spice Hut, last day today after 26 years of service! Happy retirement! Thank you for all your support, custom and kindness. Mr Seth x.”

Upon finding out the unexpected news, fans of the food shared their sadness to see that he was closing: “Such a lovely kind man and what delicious fresh food. He will be missed!” with another sad customer sharing: “Nooooooo! An E17 institution.”

Someone else wrote: “Oh that’s so sad!!! I think he moved to Dubai possibly, I cant be sure, but I heard him saying he would to a customer as his son lives there now. Its the only place I would get a kebab roll I would never order one anywhere else. It was the best.”

Firoj Patel, who is Seth’s nephew and worked on the stall when it first opened, told MyLondon: “He deserves retirement. He’s worked really hard. It was fun working there.

“I always looked forward to eating lunch! He was pretty busy from the outset because his kebab recipe was out of this world,” he added. While the future of the stall is currently unconfirmed, it’s believed Seth’s stall will still run without him, as he prepares to enjoy his retirement.
