So, you want to buy protein on Black Friday. There are a few questions you need to ask yourself: are you looking for whey protein or a vegan product? Do you want protein that’s good for building mass or leaning out? Are you looking to supplement your meals with a shake or will protein bars suffice?
Whatever you’re looking for and however you answered those questions, we have a protein product for you. Below, you’ll find everything from mass builders to diet whey and plant-based protein powders, but before you delve deeper into our protein deals, we just want to remind you to keep an eye on this page, because we’ll be adding new deals as they’re announced. But first…
What is Black Friday?
Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the entire year and, in the US, it’s considered to mark the beginning of the Christmas shopping period. It’s punctuated by incredible deals on everything you can imagine, with a sale that lasts all weekend and cruises straight through to ‘Cyber Monday’, the last day of sales where shoppers grab a serious bargain on presents for themselves and, just maybe, for others.
When is Black Friday 2022?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday land the day after Thanksgiving; but, as you’re probably reading this from the UK, we’ll give it to you straight: Black Friday will be Friday 26 November and Cyber Monday lands on Monday 29 November. However, you’ll want to keep your eyes on your favourite retailers, as many deals drop throughout the month and especially the week leading up to Friday 26th November. After Friday 26th, the deals continue over the weekend and through to Cyber Monday on Monday 29 November. If that wasn’t enough, some retailers use ‘Bounce-Back Tuesday’, on 30th December, to encourage shoppers to grab even more deals.
The Best Protein and Supplement Deals This Black Friday
1) Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein (2.27kg) + Shaker + Travel Sachet
£109.99
Per 30.4g serving: 113kcal, 23.9g protein, 1.8g carbohydrates, 1.1g fat
Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey is the world’s number one whey protein powder for a reason, and if you’re supplementing your protein intake chances are you’re doing it with this. Last year a 2.27kg tub of the supp was discounted by £30, and with a bigger size, free shaker and travel sachet (for when you want to build gains on the go), we’re hoping this great value bumper pack is in the sales this year.
2) Bulk Powders Pure Whey Protein (5kg)
£159.99
Per 30g serving: 122kcal, 24.2g protein, 1.5g carbohydrates, 2g fat
Why is Bulk Powders Pure Whey Protein our editor’s choice? Well, it contains a massive 80% whey protein, has all your essential amino acids, including 5g of Branched Chain Amino Acids per serving, and, most importantly, is available in over 20 flavours, each one more delicious than the last, ranging from chocolate cookies to birthday cake. Even better? Last Black Friday a 5kg tub was on sale or £49.49!
3) Myprotein Impact Whey Protein (5kg)
£52.35
Per 30g serving: 21g protein, 1.6g carbohydrates, 1.8g fat
Myprotein had a massive Black Friday sale last year, where you could get 45% off everything on their site – score. And our top recommendation from the brand – their Impact Whey Protein – was discounted by more than £40. Plus it’s packed with 21g of protein per serving and comes in 40 different flavours. Cinnamon danish flavour, anyone?
4) Informed Whey Protein Isolate Powder (2.27kg)
£58.49
Per 30g serving: 24.3g protein, 1.36g carbohydrates, 1.2g fat
If you’re anything like us then you probably want to know exactly what’s in your protein shake. Enter Bulk Informed. Every single batch of this tasty protein powder is tested for banned substances, so whether you’re competing or a regular gym-goer you know that what your putting in your body is safe to use. And last year it was 44% off in the Black Friday sales.
5) Vegan Protein Powder (1kg)
£14.99
Per 130g serving: 22.9g protein, 3.6g carbohydrates, 2.1g fat
Do we need to have a conversation about how you can still get all the protein you need from vegan products? Take this vegan protein powder from Bulk Powders, which packs a whopping 22.9g of protein per serving and just 3.6g of carbohydrates. We can also dispel the myth that vegan protein doesn’t taste as nice as whey protein. This one comes in flavours like chocolate peanut and banana caramel, and trust us when we say they taste great in a shake. Last year we saved £15 on a 2.5kg pack, so even if you’re not going plant-based, this Black Friday might be the time to give vegan protein powder a try.
10) MAXIMUSCLE Promax Lean Protein Powder Vanilla Flavour,980 g
£34.99
Per serving: 30g protein, 0.6g carbohydrates, 0.3g fat
Looking to get lean? Maximuscle has a protein powder for that, which, conveniently, was discounted by 20% last Black Friday.
7) PhD Nutrition Diet Whey Protein Powder (2kg)
£37.99
Per 50g serving: 34g protein, 5.5g carbohydrates, 2.75g fat
If you want to add more protein but save on calories, then PhD’s Diet Whey Protein Powder is the way to go. Two scoops of this in your shake will serve up less than 6g of carbs and just 200 calories. Flavour options include salted caramel, Belgian chocolate and raspberry white chocolate, but what’s even tastier is the 49% we saved on Amazon during the Black Friday sale last year.
8) Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100 Percent Plant Vegan and Gluten Free Protein Powder with Vitamin B12, Essential Amino Acids, Natural Occurring BCAAs and Glutamine, Chocolate, 19 Servings, 684 g
£23.99
Per 36g serving: 24g protein, 4.2g carbohydrates, 2.4g fat
Looking for a gluten-free protein powder with 100% plant-based ingredients? Look no further than Optimum Nutrition’s vegan protein. With 24g of protein per serving, it can more than hold its own when compared to the whey protein products on this list. And last year is was discounted by 37% on Amazon.
9) Maximuscle Progain Protein Powder for Size and Mass
£54.99
Per 120g serving: 37g protein, 54g carbohydrates, 13g fat
Carbs have got a bit of a bad rap lately, but it’s worth remembering carbs are our friends, and if you’re looking to build size and mass, you’re going to need them. Maximusle’s Progain Protein Powder boasts 54g of carbs per serving and a whopping 500 calories, so it’s not suitable if you’re looking to get lean but is perfect if you want to pack on size. In fact, the only lean thing about this product was the price in last year’s Black Friday sale, thanks to Maximuscle’s 20% discount on all of its products.
10) Vegan Wondershake (750g)
£39.00
Per serving: 24g protein, 1.3g carbohydrates, 0.7g fat
Another massive deal just for Black Friday – last year, we saved 41% on this Vegan Wondershake, which packs 21g of plant-based protein per serving and is low calorie, low sugar and low fat.
11) SCI-MX Nutrition Pro V-Gain Protein Powder, Plant Based, 2.2 kg, Chocolate, 49 Servings
£31.99
Per 45g serving: 33g protein, 4.6g carbohydrates, 2g fat
Formulated from a blend of premium soy, pea and rice proteins, this 100% plant-based protein from SCI-MX packs an impressive protein punch, delivering 33g per serving. Last year we saved on the brand, and we’re hoping to see some impressive discounts this year.
12) USN Diet Fuel Vanilla UltraLean 1 kg: Weight Control & Meal Replacement Powder
£22.99
Per 54g serving: 25g protein, 13g carbohydrates, 3.9g fat
This protein powder can either be used as a supplement or as a meal replacement, which is why it’s higher in carbs and fats than other protein powders on this list. With 55% off last year, we’re keeping everything crossed for a similar discount this year. Oh, and it’s also available in strawberry. Yum.
13) Phd High Protein Low sugar Smart Bar
£18.59
These Smart Plant bars from PhD contain 23g of protein but only 9g of carbs, the perfect plant-based protein pick-me-up for when you’re on the go. Last year for Black Friday we snagged 12 bars for less than £15, and given how good these are, you’d be silly not to try and pick some up this year.
14) Vegan Protein Powder 100% Plant-Based & Natural (1kg)
£32.99
Per serving: 21g protein, 1g carbohydrates, 0.9g fat
This vegan protein offers 24g of protein per serving, which is obviously impressive, but it also only amounts to 112 calories per shake. Ideal if you’re counting calories, whether you’re vegan or not. It comes in loads of great flavours, including Choc Mint Brownie and Millionaire’s Shortbread. Better still, last year Amazon offered a 27% discount on the plant-based protein powder for Black Friday.
