The GR Sport Is No Longer The Most Expensive Fortuner Variant For Toyota Motor Philippines

auto, autos, car, cars, toyota, the gr sport is no longer the most expensive fortuner variant for toyota motor philippines

Toyota Motor Philippines may be

focusing on the fact that the refreshed Hilux and its improved feature set is now available at dealerships nationwide

, but the Fortuner also happened to get its own set of updates which happens to mess up its current price structure. Let us explain.

Last month, Toyota Motor Philippines quietly introduced the 2023 version of its 7-seater mid-sized SUV and its slew of new features

. We covered that already before, but in case you need a refresher, it’s down to standard bi-beam LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels, and the availability of features like paddle shifters, push-start ignition, paddle shifters, auto dimming rear view mirror, rear USB chargers, and more safety features.

At the time, these new features happened to increase the Fortuner’s price tag. But get this, a second round of price increases this month (effective October 13 to be exact) has resulted to one peculiar thing: the Fortuner GR Sport 4×4 is no longer the most expensive variant they have on offer; that honor now goes to the Fortuner 2.8 4×4 LTD.

Wait, what?!

It’s weird but the latest Toyota price list still lists the Fortuner GR Sport 4×4 at P 2,514,000—the same as its September price. However, the Fortuner 2.8 4×4 LTD now starts at P 2,519,000 for the Silver Metallic with Attitude Black Mica roof, while it actually goes up to P 2,529,000 for the Platinum White Pearl Mica color.

For reference, here’s how the other Fortuner variants stack up:

    Fortuner GR-S 4×4 – P 2,514,000

    Fortuner LTD 4×4 – P 2,519,000 (P 2,529,000 for Platinum White Pearl Mica)

    Fortuner LTD 4×2 – P 2,356,000 (P 2,366,000 for Platinum White Pearl Mica)

    Fortuner Q 4×2 – P 2,089,000 (P 2,104,000 for Platinum White Pearl Mica)

    Fortuner V 4×2 – P 1,932,000 (P 1,947,000 for Platinum White Pearl Mica)

    Fortuner G 4×2 AT – P 1,802,000

    Fortuner G 4×2 MT – P 1,710,000

We’re pretty sure this is just temporary and that a price increase for the Fortuner GR Sport is imminent once the new shipment comes in. But for now, if you want the sporty treatment for your 7-seater SUV (along with a slightly better ride thanks to those monotube shocks), you better plop down a reservation at your nearest Toyota dealer right now and seal the September price while supplies last.
