The Reason Why You're Probably Seeing The Sbagliato Cocktail ALL Over Your Social Feeds
The sbagliato cocktail is having *a moment* right now on the Internet, all thanks to one viral video involving House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy and their seemingly innocent response to a question. And when I say the internet is losing its *mind* over this video I’m not exaggerating. If I’m not seeing the video itself being shared, I’m watching people react to said video.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, earlier this week House of the Dragon co-stars Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), appear in an HBO Max interview discussing their favourite cocktails.

“What’s your drink of choice?” Olivia innocently asks Emma.
“A negroni,” replies Emma. “Sbagliato, with Prosecco in it.”
And well… the internet lost it.

But what actually is a sbagliato?
sbagliato
Literally meaning mistake/wrong in Italian, the sbagliato was created by bartender Mirko Sotcchetti at his bar, Bar Basso in Milan, when he accidentally used sparkling wine instead of gin when making a negroni.
But while it was a mistake, it resulted in a much lighter style Negroni, perfect for those that love the bitterness of the drink but not the strength.
A negroni is equal parts gin, sweet vermouth and Campari, whereas a sbagliato uses the 2:1:1 ratio of sparkling wine, sweet vermouth and Campari.
And I can’t help but agree with Emma, whilst I lowkey LOVE a negroni, the negroni sbaglatio just hits a lil’ different.
And if you’ve yet to see the moment for yourself… here you go:
