This Is The Best Cleaning Spray For Greasy Messes
When my stovetop is really greasy, I reach for this simple homemade cleaning spray.
If I had to choose a favorite feature of my stove, it would definitely be the cast iron griddle that’s built into the center of it. It’s useful for a lot of different things, but I primarily use it to cook bacon. (My youngest son loves bacon for breakfast, and I love BLTs for lunch, so you can imagine how much we use that little griddle!)
While it’s nice to be able to cook bacon right on my stovetop, it’s still a messy process. I struggled at first to clean up the grease that was left behind after I used the griddle, but I knew there had to be a better way.
I needed something specifically formulated to cut through greasy messes, and after some good old fashioned internet sleuthing, I came across just the thing: a DIY citrus-powered, grease-cutting spray cleaner!
What’s In It?
The formula for this spray couldn’t be simpler, yet it works wonderfully. The main grease-fighting ingredient is lemon essential oil, which contains a compound called limonene that is known for its effectiveness at cutting through grease. When combined with some baking soda and castile soap for added cleaning power, you get the perfect cleaner for any kind of greasy mess!
Here’s how you can make it at home.
Homemade Citrus Degreaser Spray
Ingredients:
- 2 cups warm water
Directions:
Mix all of the ingredients together in a spray bottle.
Spray mixture on greasy messes and wipe with a damp sponge or cloth (microfiber works wonderfully!) Once the surface is clean, shine it up with a dry microfiber cloth.
Bonus Tip: Make it easier to make more of this citrus degreaser with set of my spray bottle labels printed with my favorite cleaning recipes (including this one!) The clear labels have the names and recipes of my favorite homemade cleaners printed on them in white text, which shows up beautifully on my go-to amber glass spray bottles.
I’ve been super pleased with the results I’ve gotten from using this citrus degreaser on my stovetop. My husband even used it to get a greasy spot out of the upholstery in his truck, and it left his whole truck smelling fresh and clean!
