This Omelette Cooking Hack will Blow Your Mind (No Skillet Necessary)
Ingredients
Would you believe that the secret to preparing the easiest omelette ever involves a Ziploc bag?
OK, we know it’s a bit crazy, and traditionalists may balk at the idea, but there is no denying that this method has big advantages: no dirty dishes, no oil or other cooking fats needed, and you can make bigger portions at once. Are you intrigued? Check out the recipe!
Ingredients:
- 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 eggs
- 4 mushrooms, sliced
- chives, to taste
- paprika, to taste
Method
Break the eggs into a Ziploc bag, and shake or use your fingers to massage and break up the yolks and whites. If you do not have any Ziploc bags, any sturdy, sous vide bag will work, just make sure the plastic is thick enough to withstand heat and is perfectly sealed.
(P.S. don’t worry, all Ziploc bags are BPA- and dioxin-free, therefore perfectly safe to submit to cooking temperatures.)
Method
Add the mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, and chives. Season with salt and pepper. Shake the bag to mix all the ingredients. Seal the bag, trying to remove as much air from it as possible.
Method
Next, place the bag inside a pot filled with boiling water. If it is a large pot, place a maximum of 8 bags at a time in the water. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, then gently remove the bag from the water.
Method
Open the bag and, being careful not to burn yourself, serve the omelette on a plate. It should easily slide out of the bag.
Serve
Season with paprika, and garnish with more chives. Serve hot. Enjoy!
