Did you know that Silay City is home to wealthy hacienderos and amazing ancestral houses? Among these historical gems include Balay Negrense Museum or known as Victor Gaston Ancestral House. This place was completed in 1901 and was one of the largest homes on the island. It was restored in 1994 as a lifestyle museum and is declared a Heritage House by the National Historical Institute. However, what’s more, interesting is the extensive garden facing the street, with very lush surroundings and large old trees dating back to the Spanish Era. Inside the museum, you’ll see memorabilia and antique items dating back to the 1900s. Indeed, a sight to behold.

Wander at Pulang Tubig Waterfalls

If you’re more of an adventurer type, then heading over to Pulang Tubig Waterfalls is a perfect idea. It’s situated at the Northern Negros Natural Park and is an hour’s trek from the small community Patag. Once you’ve reached your destination, you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking scenery we don’t usually see every day. It’s unpopulated compared to mainstream falls in the Philippines. Pink Museum, famously known as the Bernardino Ysabel Jalandoni Museum, is one of the best places to visit in Silay City. Built in 1908, it is said that the owners exported its wood from Mindoro to make sure the museum withstands the test of time. It’s not only physically attractive on the outside, but it houses a unique collection of dolls, books, and glassware we can’t find elsewhere in the Philippines.

Visit the oldest bakery in Silay City, and don’t forget to try their homemade pastries and cookies, which recipes are handed down from one generation to another. It is nestled inside the Cesar Lacson Locsin Ancestral House, a few blocks away from the Silay City Public Plaza.

It started operating as a bakery in 1920 and has been a go-to bakery for locals and newcomers! Other delicacies to try include Ilonggo cookies, Piaya, and Guapple Pie. If you’re not into sweets, you can also order silog breakfast here too! Give it a try!

Since this place is solemn and quiet, this is usually the go-to place for people who want to unwind, write something, do a photo shoot, or just someone looking for peace of mind. The Lantawan view is surrounded by Eucalyptus trees and houses a heart-shaped pool for additional attraction. It is located 30 minutes away from Bacolod-Silay Airport via private transport.
